Rapper J-Money was born Tiyon Rogers in the deep south in the state of Mississippi in a small town called Crawford. He was raised by a single parent living in poverty. With major influences such as LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, and 2Pac, he adapted to rap music along with other genres such as R&B and blues. He attended college on a baseball scholarship, but an injury sidelined him which kept him from trying out for the pros. In 2006, his music caught the attention of Asylum Records and he eventually got signed. Now, in 2008, he is back and is gaining much attention and reviews. He is out with a video to the single "I'm Ballin" featuring Rick Ross. His debut album, My Life Check Me Out, dropped April 28th via 35/35 Entertainment, a label under Asylum.
