Michael was the greatest pop singer of all time. As the memorial service is taking place at Staples Center, I have photos and coverage of the event. It was really a beautiful memorial in honor of the King of Pop. With speeches from Smokey Robinson, Al Sharpton, the Jacksons' family friend Pastor Lucious Smith, and Bernice and Martin Luther King III, there were thousands who actually was in the building to pay tribute to Michael Jackson. Performances came from Usher, who was deeply touched and seemed very emotional after singing, crying, and touching the coffin of his influence and idol, while singing "Gone Too Soon." Jennifer Hudson did an excellent job performing "Will You Be There" along with a choir. Actress and one of Michael's best friends since his younger days was Brooke Shields, who gave an emotional friendship speech about her and the late Michael Jackson. Other immaculate and wonderful performances came from Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Michael's brother Jermaine Jackson, John Mayer, and Lionel Richie among a group of others who also performed. Memories came from Smokey Robinson, Queen Latifah, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson, and Berry Gordy. Other invited famous acts who were in the building but didn't speak nor perform was Tyrese, Dionne Warwick, Cicely Tyson, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Babyface, Chris Brown, Suzanne de Passe, Wesley Snipes, and Jesse Jackson. As Jackson's daughter, Paris Katherine Jackson, spoke about her father but broke down in tears during the process, the world sat in tears and felt emotional also. The crowd and family members felt her emotions and understood why she was weeping so hard.
