Following up its most successful year in 2008, which attracted 270,000 people, Essence organizers expected a huge crowd this year which came true. Hosted in New Orleans annually, the festival draws a large crowd every year. A 3-day festival which is filled with music, laughter, entertainment, partying, fashion, and modeling.
While adults grooved to the female rap duo Salt-N-Pepa, who opened the main stage at the Super Dome, spectators from all across the world quickly filled the stadium. There were many famous acts who performed, but notable acts included Beyonce, who headlined the event, along with Ne-Yo, John Legend, Al Green, Maxwell, Jazmine Sullivan, En Vogue, Robin Thicke, Anita Baker, and Keri Hilson.
