Bow Wow Signs With Cash Money Records

Rapper Bow Wow announced Sunday night (Aug 16) via his Twitter site that he had officially signed a recording contract with Cash Money Records. The first tweet said, "RT THIS!!! its official BOW WOW IS A CASH MONEY MILLIONAIRE." The other tweet came a little later with him tweeting "SHOUT TO STUNNA FOR BELIEVING IN ME AND GIVN ME A CHANCE. SHOUT OUT TO WAYNE FOR LETN ME WALK ON BOARD! AND MY YM FAMILY AND CASH MONEY FAMILY."
The rapper had parted ways with his longtime label, Columbia Records, earlier this year. In previous Twitter dispatches, he explained he was deciding between two recording options: T.I.’s Grand Hustle camp through Atlantic Records or relaunching So So Def when Jermaine Dupri signed a new deal.
In the end, a third option emerged.
“We had two sit-downs,” Bow Wow said of meeting with Cash Money. “Upon the first sit-down, I called [co-CEO Birdman] and told him what I wanted to do. So it was a no-brainer. He was like, ‘Bow, you always been family. Next to Wayne, I look at you like my son. If you not with JD, you with us.’ From there, it was a done deal. So I wanna thank [him], Slim and Wayne.”
Bow Wow’s addition to the Cash Money collective follows the announcement that Omarion had inked with Lil Wayne’s Young Money imprint. The two moves, along with Drake’s signing, are a far cry from the label’s early days when the Hot Boyz — a cast that included Wayne, Juvenile, B.G. and Turk — were the central act. Now, with a stable of rapping matinee idols, the crew boasts a lineup as deep as any label.
“We all want to win, and in order to do that, we have to cover all bases,” Bow said. “With me coming to Cash Money, I bring something to the table that hasn’t been there in their history. I bring the whole Hollywood side, from that perspective.”
Bow Wow said he’ll also continue to work with mentor Jermaine Dupri. “He’s always gonna be there right by my side,” Bow said. Next up, the rapper said he’ll release the Greenlight mixtape, followed by a new album entitled The Transition To Shad Moss tentatively set for release by the end of the year or early 2010.

Day26 Parts Ways With Bad Boy Records

After becoming stars via Diddy's reality TV series "Making The Band," Day26's run at Bad Boy Records has come to an end. The group has left the label, but say they are still a part of Diddy's extended family.
"Bad Boy is always our family, but we're with Atlantic right now," said group member Willie Taylor.
Although they became stars on reality TV, Day26 are now determined to prove that they have what it takes to make it on pure talent, rather than TV ratings. "We really want to get people focused on the artistry, on the music," Taylor explained. "I think a lot of people lost it with the entertainment of the show. So now, we really want to show people what we're all about, that we do our thing whether its on stage, in the studio, writing and producing -- we do it all."
Day26 are currently in the studio working on their third group album.

Money Ain’t a Thing: Diddy Drops $3 Million on 40th Birthday Bash

Turning 40 is a milestone, and to hip-hop mogul Diddy, it's one to really celebrate.
Diddy threw himself a lavish 40th birthday party in New York, and spent a whopping $3 million on the bash. Some of that money was spent on things like his Garden of Eden theme, which included a $30,000 orchid display, a specially installed black dance floor and black chandelier, a silver confetti drop, and a performance by Al Green.
You know when Diddy throws a party, celebs really come out to support him. The all-star guest list included Bono, Jay-Z, Martha Stewart, Denzel Washington, Nelly, and Fabolous.
The security was tight too, so tight "Twilight" star Kellan Lutz was barely able to get into the VIP area. All this went down at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. Happy birthday Diddy!

Michael Jackson’s White Moonwalk Glove Sells For $350,000

The rhinestone-studded white glove Michael Jackson wore when he first performed his trademark moonwalk dance in the early 80s was sold on Saturday (November 21) for a staggering $350,000.
According to the Associated Press, the winner bidder was a Hong Kong man named Hoffman Ma, who has pledged to pay $420,000 for the famous glove, which includes taxes and fees.
The white glove was the top item in a collection of Jackson memorabilia on auction at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square. Its pre-auction estimate was $40,000 to $60,000, so it fetched waaaay more than expected.
"It was a fairly good discount," said 36-year-old Ma told the AP. He reportedly bought the musical treasure on behalf of the Ponte 16 Resort Hotel in Macau.
The sale was held by Los Angeles-based Julien's Auctions. It also included a fedora Jackson wore for the moonwalk, which sold for $22,000, while a jacket that Jackson wore on his 1989 "Bad" tour fetched $225,000.
The price-tag for the glove, though, was nearly 10 times more than another white glove auctioned off in September in Australia. The bejeweled glove -- caught by a fan during a concert in Sydney in 1996 -- sold for $49,000.
